BS/2 and Diebold Nixdorf Lead the Way: First-Ever ATM Application Adaptation for Windows 11
The share of banking transactions and payments in self-service devices is constantly growing, which sets high requirements for the security and reliability of software and banking equipment support. Also, in the next few years, a number of updates in payment card industry requirements, technology support, and solutions are expected. In such a situation, the desire of financial organizations to obtain a stable and scalable platform for their software products for the maximum possible period and to guarantee long-term protection of investments in banking infrastructure is fully justified.
BS/2 engineers were the first in the world to adapt the Diebold Nixdorf VCP-Lite ATM application to work with the latest version of Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 operating system. This project was first realized together with JSCB Kapitalbank (Uzbekistan) and affected the bank’s VCP-Lite-based application for DN Series 200H ATM.
This work was done by BS/2 central office engineers together with colleagues from the subsidiary in Uzbekistan. Diebold Nixdorf’s VCP-Lite platform development team provided advice and technical support during the process of adapting the application and running it on the ATM computer.
As a result, the updated application was installed and run on the ATM under Windows 11 operating system. The system works and successfully conducts transactions with Kapitalbank’s card processing center.
The success of the first software adaptation for the most up-to-date version of the operating system was immediately confirmed by the second project of Eurasian Bank JSC (Kazakhstan) to finalize the application for the DN450V ATM model.
The bank’s modernized software together with the guarantee of Windows support will allow the bank to build a long-term strategy of transferring more and more banking services for individuals, and small and medium-sized businesses provided through the bank’s self-service devices.
Jerome Amara, Vice President, Global Banking Products, Diebold Nixdorf:
I would like to thank and congratulate the BS/2 team on this great achievement. Together with the Diebold Nixdorf team, you led the deployment of the first ATM with Windows 11 IOT Enterprise LTSC 2024. The collaboration between our companies has led to many accomplishments and innovations in the industry we serve and love, and your commitment to our partnership is unrivaled.
Why is it important that BS/2, together with Diebold Nixdorf, were the first to adapt support for the VCP-Lite application for the Windows 11 operating system?
- VCP-Lite (ProCash) is the most widely used ATM software solution in the world. This adaptation of the software solution affects the security of all transactions.
- The Windows 11 LTSC 2024 version of Windows 11 will be officially supported by Microsoft until at least 2034. Software adapted to this version will enable banks to be compliant with card industry requirements (PCI, EMV) necessary for certification with Visa, Mastercard and other payment systems within 10 years.
- This version of Windows 11 is guaranteed to receive all security updates and the most current drivers, which will provide the necessary level of protection and support for computers and ATM equipment connected to them.
JSCB Kapitalbank is a strategic partner of BS/2 in Uzbekistan. This project became the next step of the realization of the Memorandum on cooperation and further development of self-service banking channels and payment infrastructure of the bank signed in 2023. The stability and security of the ATM information platform are in line with Kapitalbank’s plans to expand the functionality of ATMs with a range of banking services previously available only in branches.
JSC Eurasian Bank is a socially important commercial bank in Kazakhstan, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary on December 26, 2024. The Bank is one of the ten largest banks in Kazakhstan in terms of assets, holds leading positions in the retail banking market, and provides a wide range of services to corporate clients and small and medium-sized businesses.
